Have you been contacted via WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook or any other media platform, with job offers that you never applied for? This is the latest trend of scams in the world of recruitment companies. Here are some tips to protect yourself from the scam.

We have received several messages and complaints from people claiming to have been contacted by Octagon Professionals for a vacancy they never applied for. This entity is impersonating us to ask for information and commit online crimes that are completely unrelated to our company.

Please note that this type of behavior is happening across the board among different recruitment companies. These events have been reported to the police who have launched an investigation, however the authorities have advised us to inform people through our own communication channels and spread the word to prevent anyone from falling for these fraudulent acts. It is possible to identify these messages by the informality and lack of professionalism. The screenshots below are from a conversation between impersonators and a victim. These messages do not come from a real company, but from a phishing/scamming person. Be sure to always double check by using the official contact details of our company to directly talk with us.

Make sure you never give out any personal information, bank account numbers or any other sensitive details. We advise you to block contact and do not access any suspicious links or fill out any forms.

Octagon Professionals will never:

  • Request any personal identification information
  • Represent companies that pay daily or weekly
  • Ask for a fee from a job seeker
  • Pressurizing you in order to make decisions
  • Ask you to transfer money
  • Contact you through WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram or Instagram.
  • Send you a link to a job vacancy
  • Ask for a crypto wallet.

Remember to handle your recruitment processes with caution and contact us/any related recruitment company if you are unsure of the veracity of an offer. If you have been approached by one of these users, immediately block the account and, if you wish, notify the authorities. Octagon is always at your disposal. If you have any concerns you can contact us on 070-3249300 or via info@octagon.nl.

Best regards & stay safe,

The Octagon Team.
