Have you spent years perfecting stator and rotor cores, cutting noise and losses, and pushing motor manufacturing lines to a higher standard? This might be your next challenge!

As a High-Voltage Motor Core Consultant, you will bring European best practice to a leading Korean manufacturer, diagnose issues from lamination to stacking, and turn your know-how into robust standards and training. You will work directly with engineering teams in Europe and Korea, guide factory trials on-site, and see your recommendations implemented on real production lines.

Your Role

As a High-Voltage Motor Core Consultant you will act as a senior technical advisor, bringing European manufacturing practices to a leading Korean manufacturer. You help raise quality standards, reduce electromagnetic noise and energy losses, and transfer practical know-how to an in-house engineering team.

In this role you will:

  • Provide hands-on guidance on stator and rotor core manufacturing, from design review to final quality checks, for both solid and segmented cores.
  • Analyse current processes for blanking, notching, stacking, brazing or welding, and define clear quality and measurement standards.
  • Diagnose and mitigate electromagnetic noise and vibration issues under thermal and ageing conditions, advising on process and design improvements.
  • Mentor and train a team of engineers through remote sessions and structured workshops, ensuring knowledge is embedded in day-to-day operations.
  • Lead quarterly on-site visits in Korea to review production lines, run trials on automated equipment and align stakeholders on improvement roadmaps.
  • Collaborate closely with the Team Manager and wider European and Korean stakeholders, providing clear reports, recommendations and follow-up actions.

Your Profile

You are a senior specialist in electric motor core manufacturing who enjoys combining deep technical expertise with practical coaching. You are comfortable advising across cultures and turning complex engineering topics into clear, actionable guidance.

You bring:

  • At least 10 years of experience in electric motor design and manufacturing, with a strong focus on high-voltage motor cores.
  • Recent, hands-on experience in European manufacturing environments (last 1 to 2 years).
  • Proven track record improving stator and rotor core production, including process optimisation and quality improvement.
  • Expertise in unit processes such as blanking, notching, stacking, brazing or welding, and in defining evaluation criteria and quality standards.
  • Strong understanding of electromagnetic noise and vibration behaviour and how to address these through design and process changes.
  • Familiarity with modern automated equipment and factory practices for motor core production.
  • Excellent communication and training skills, with the ability to coach engineers and lead structured knowledge-transfer sessions.
  • Willingness to travel to South Korea once per quarter for on-site collaboration.

A relevant engineering degree is welcome, but a strong practical track record in high-voltage motor core manufacturing is essential.

Working Arrangements

The consultant will be based in Europe, working primarily remotely with regular video conferences and documentation exchange. Once per quarter you will spend approximately one week on site in South Korea for line reviews, workshops and stakeholder meetings. Travel time for these visits is included in the agreed consulting arrangement, with flights and accommodation covered by the client.

The expected workload is part-time and will be defined in agreement with the consultant, with flexibility around scheduling of remote sessions and site visits.

What We Offer

You will play a key role in shaping the next generation of high-voltage motor core manufacturing for a global industrial player. Through Octagon you will benefit from:

  • A high-impact consulting assignment at the intersection of European and Korean manufacturing.
  • The opportunity to set standards, coach an international engineering team and see your recommendations implemented on the factory floor.
  • A competitive consulting fee aligned with your seniority and expertise.
